TWO MORE TO GO, SOON!
READ ON IF YOU’RE INTERESTED IN TRAVELING TO DUNN ON TUESDAY.
LET’S GO, MOORE TEA CITIZENS!
Briefly, here is the plan. Bring an American flag if you have one, and wear red, white and blue. Bring a china cup and saucer!
Meet at the Morganton Road Armory in Southern Pines at 12:40. We will leave at 1:00pm promptly, and drive to just south of Dunn. Pass Highway 421, and take the next exit (Jonesboro). Turn right immediately onto a gravel road. Stay on the gravel road until you get to a place to park near the billboard! This should happen a bit before 3:00pm.
What will follow at the billboard will be chatter and celebration. We will meet and greet each other and folks from the counties around Dunn. Photos and videos will follow, and a couple of speeches (short, but enthusiastic).
After this we drive to Dunn, and meet at the Hampton Inn in Dunn, just as you exit I-95. We’ll have more time to celebrate, with a wonderful authentic British Tea, complete with crumpets!
Our hosts will include Bobby Pittman and members of the Wilson Tea Party and folks from other groups as well. We expect to see members of TEA groups from at least five counties. Michael and Heather Gibbons, natives of Great Britain, will be hosting the English tea party.
Following the continuation of the christening ceremony begun at the billboard site, featuring the Moore TEA Citizens leaders and billboard committee, we’ll sip tea and get to know our hosts and guests.
Heather and Michael became US citizens in 1988 and Michael will bring his citizenship papers just in case there are any concerns. Crumpets, cakes, muffins and of course tea will be served. As a previous English subject, this is their protest of the socialist direction of our country. A toast to the Queen and the Union Jack will be displayed proudly.
We’ll depart in time to return to Moore County by 6:00. Come and celebrate with us!
