Race To The Top

This is a new entry, and we encourage you to read about this new wrinkle in American Education.  Richard Monroe, Moore TEA Citizen and retired NC teacher and administrator, has written about it, and his research is troubling.  This is an attempt, Richard warns, by the government to take over education.

Richard notes, “The State Board of Education doesn’t need legislative approval, having been given carte blanc
on Race To The Top.  I have conferred with Donna Garner in Texas, the experton such matters.  She says that the only way to stop this train now is to rally the parents in opposition to the competition.  We are talking about a state wide effort through the Parent Teacher Organizations and the various civic clubs.  It would entail quite an undertaking.”
Richard suggests that “we have one thing in our favor—a year’s window of time.  They can’t possibly implement these changes for the 2010-2011 school year.  They would begin next fall for the 2011-2012 school year.  Naturally, we’ve got to wait and see if we are a winner in the Race To The Top.  I don’t know when the decision will be made.  If Moore TEA will get involved and encourage other TEA chapters to participate, we might be able to pull this off.  It’s worth a try.”

One Response to Race To The Top

  1. MaryJo Morse says:

    Mr. Richard Monroe, Hi!
Why not get in touch with Mr. Richard Barton also an educator from Texas who is rewriting the history books for all our children…..
Mr. Barton has been on the Glenn Beck show who is pretty well known and has done research on our past presidents. He realized we were all short changed and is now ready, willing and able to rectify our history books nationally to at least get the present generation up to speed.
Just a thought as Mr. Barton seems very sincere and willing to do what it takes to tell the truth regarding our forefathers, the Constitution and the American Bill of Rights.
    Thank you.
    Mary Jo E. Morse
